Good Over Evil

Good Over Evil has been rooted in southern Catalunya since 2008, built around one clear agenda: Jah Ivan and Dani Roots, the minds behind the project, set out to bring Nyabinghi, UK Roots Dub, and the devotional gravity of Midnite into a single musical body — one that could be performed live, on stage, in front of an audience. The fuel behind their work is a deep respect for the traditions that laid the groundwork for reggae culture; consciousness and spirituality.

Rastafari teachings shape how they write lyrics; the pulse of Nyabinghi drives their tempo and percussion choices; the lineage of UK Roots Dub runs through the way they carve out space and silence between notes. The meeting point of Jamaican tradition and Mediterranean sensibility sits at the core of their original compositions — and it comes through clearly in their recordings.

Live Dub performance sets them apart from conventional reggae sets. Mixing happens in real time; effects are manipulated mid-song; reverb and delay move in and out following musical decisions made in the moment.

Since 2008, they have released singles, EPs, and LPs almost every year. That consistency builds a body of work traceable in its development from one release to the next. Their latest album, “The Fountain, dropped on April 3, 2026 — fourteen tracks extending what they have been constructing for nearly two decades.

For listeners drawn to Roots Reggae and Dub with real weight to it, The Fountain is a solid entry point into their catalog. From there, working backwards through their discography — or simply waiting for what comes next — holds equal reward.
