Some voices just speak for themselves. Tuan Jenggo‘s is one of them. That falsetto he pulls out — effortlessly, every time — doesn’t just sit on top of a song. It carries it.
With his trio Gudtings, he’s back with “Sembuh Total,” a lovers rock single that leans into its chord progressions with a maturity that feels earned rather than assumed. The emotional core hits clean and straight — no forced drama, no third-act twist. That’s the point. Gudtings isn’t trying anything out here; they know what they’re doing, and what they’re doing is holding down a very specific lane: adult contemporary with deep Jamaican roots, right in the heart of the Indonesian scene.

A lot of the credit goes to Adya. As the trio’s sound designer and the composer, he’s got a knack for making space feel alive without cluttering it. The production is unpolished in the best way — raw enough to breathe, controlled enough to land. Right out of the gate, a muted trumpet trades lines with the piano in a soft diatonic groove that pulls you in quietly, almost without you noticing. Then the clavinet steps in early in the verse, grounding things just enough before the chorus opens up and makes room for everyone.
“Sembuh Total” isn’t built for listeners who need a gimmick to stay interested. It’s for people who know the difference. Our pick this month — hit the link below.
