Fast Pace Culture Inna Dancefloor

Since Lennie De Ice “invented” jungle beats from the famous Winston Brothers’ “Amen Break” with ragga basslines in the late 1980s, jungle music has continued to develop and become an unstoppable force.

This British producer has succeeded in creating a new “foundation” in the world of electronic music. Starting from the UK, this genre produces many performers with their musical variations. Slowly, many styles of this music are added through the colors created by the junglist and bassheads all over the world. And it became a new culture on the dance floor!

Here’s a quick look at our notes for some of the drum’n’bass tracks on this one of our special edition article.

    1. Lennie De Ice - “We Are I.E”

Of course, the very first big note came from the jungle beat “inventor” himself, Lennie De Ice. This is the “proto-jungle” that the world is enjoying today.

 

    2. UK Apache & Shy FX - “Original Nuttah”

Shy FX, one of the most famous figures in jungle/drum'n'bass music from England, was included in the “pioneer” group in the movement of the scene at that time. “Original Nuttah” is a phenomenal single that he released in mid-1994. In collaboration with UK Apache, this song became a perennial anthem on the dance floor.

 

 

    3. Congo Natty - “UK All Stars”

The figure who is also known as Rebel MC, is also noted as the one who keeps the jungle to evolve more big with the rastafarian touch he gave. He started his musical journey with several breakbeat groups, hip house, reggae and jungle of course. 

 

 

    4. Roni Size & Reprazent - “Brown Paper Bag”

This drum'n'bass group fronted by Roni Size and supported by Dynamite MC & Onallee, started in 1997. They released the LP “New Forms” at that time. The track “Brown Paper Bag” became one of the important singles of the century presented by the producer.

 

 

    5. Chase And Status ft. General Levy - “Heater”

The duo of Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status) from London, became one of the electronic music acts that stole the attention of jungle/drum'n'bass music lovers. Their presence in 2003, became a breath of fresh air for the development of this music in the industry. Some of their releases have also been listed on the UK Dance Chart.

 

 

    6. Marcus Visionary - “Junglist Sound”

Marcus Visionary has been at the forefront of the jungle/drum'n'bass scene in Canada since 2004. He did combine Jamaican music with jungle/drum'n'bass, such as in “Junglist Sound”. It’s now become his signature.

 

 

    7. Parly B, Dirt Monkey, Liondub - “Hot Like Fire”

Liondub, a dj and producer from Brooklyn - United States, has been involved with jungle/drum'n'bass music since 1995. In "Hot Like Fire", a single which was launched in 2020, he collaborated with one of the dubstep pioneers from Denver - United States, Dirt Monkey, and talented MC from Yorkshire - England, Parly B.

    8. Jerome - “Vibration”

This Indonesian jungle/drum'n'bass hero, also one of the founders of a very respectable collective since 1999; Javabass Soundsystem, Is a true pioneer indeed. With this “Vibration” he put his own frequency into the list of Indonesian jungle/drum'n'bass scene. He really keeps this culture alive!

 

 

    9. Dizzy Riz - “Babylon Shall Fall”

Talented act from Majalengka - West Java, Dizzy Riz, is one of the producers from Indonesia who also contributed jungle/drum'n'bass works. He added 10 tracks to the list of Indonesian jungle/drum'n'bass releases through his album “Lionize”. The track “Babylon Shall Fall” can represent his works.

 

 

    10. Muztang ft. Tuan Tigabelas - “Run”

Another talented local DJ and producer we added on this list is Muztang. One of a homegrown from the only authoritative drum'n'bass collective in the country; “Javabass Soundsystem”. Muztang appears like the next power from this collective after Jerome and Random. On the track "Run", he collaborates with a powerful rapper from Indonesia, Tuan Tigabelas. A track that can promise us a fine regeneration in the country's drum'n'bass scene.
