Supa Bassie

Spain is well known as one of the countries that has produced many Jamaican music acts and the scenesters. Be it musicians or musical imprints born in Spain, enliven the world scene of Jamaican music. From a long list of acts from Spain, one that is interesting to listen to is Supa Bassie, a reggae soloist who was born in the city of Valencia – Spain in 1976.
His encounter and journey in reggae music began in 1987, thanks to his brother who is a veteran reggae DJ in Valencia. In 1994, Supa Bassie formed his first reggae band, Llança de Foc. It was with this musical unit that his popularity began. It can be seen through his various appearances at many gigs and lots of reggae festivals in Spain in the late 90s. In 2003, Supa Bassie decided to become a soloist as well as a producer after the Llança de Foc vacuum. Although later he returned to run this music unit after a hiatus in 2019.

Supa Basie’s consistency can be seen through the release of “Otro Nivel” (2004). Also “Mándame una señal”, “Señorita”, “Me dices te quiero” and “Sentado en mi yard” (2006) which were very successful in several regions of Latin America. In addition, he often collaborates and releases mixtapes. Recently, he re-released a single “Badder Than Them”.
