Dub Machinist

Dub Machinist, aka Fred Morillon The Dub Machinist, officiates at the end of the 90s on the Bordeaux scene, inspired by groups like Improvisations Dub or even by one of the precursors of the French dub, Manutention. He is one of the major players in the development of the “French Dub Touch” and the emergence of Sound System culture in France.

Dub Machinist evolves within the collective Uzinadub, alongside, among others, producer I-Tist and Sir Hill of Control Tower Records, whose label he will inaugurate in 2006 with the release of the 12” “Stepper Anthem” by legendary singer Carlton Livingston!

After that, his discography never stop coming out, to name a few, he released his own “No Smoking Area” with Tooney Roots at 2007, “Meditation Riddim / Duppy Riddim” with Muzikal Ben, “Worldwide Dub”, “Rootstaritz Session Vol.01”, “Raw Raw Dub Selection” Chapter One with I-Tist, and many more consecutively through the years until now.

Dub Machinist, composes, mixes and remixes many tracks for Control Tower Records. He mixes digital programming inherited from UK dub masters with traditional dub mix techniques at the mixer and real instrumentalists. Dub Machinist delivers a militant dub cut to be played in the pure tradition of the sound system! He produced several releases for different labels such as French Dub Released, Livication Corner, L’Acouphène or ODG Prod.

On his Live set, Dub Machinist, often accompanied by I-Tist, performs in a raw and digital style ranging from traditional roots reggae to intergalactic dub stepper!

Recently, Dub Machinist joined forces with Gary Clunk, long-time accomplice of the dubmaker, to produce together the album “Dub Machinist meets Gary Clunk” through one of militant dub label from france who was born 20 years ago; Culture Dub Records, of which a 12inch vinyl will be released at the end of the year 2020!
