“Return of the Rootbois,” a historical compilation album for the ska, punk, and reggae communities, which was originally released by Revival Records in the mid-2010s, was once again brought to life through a gig. This time, supported by Soundclash Rekords, it took place under the “Radioclash: Return of the Rootbois” party on December 20, 2023, at Pecos, South Jakarta.

“Radioclash: Return of the Rootbois” featured formidable headliners, all presenting their sets in DJ format. The event kicked off with music selections by Boriez Got Soul, representing Revival Records. Following that, Monkey Boots, a prominent ska unit from the Johar Baru area of Jakarta, captivated the audience with their distinctive tracks.

The energetic atmosphere reached its peak through a collaboration of Return of the Rootbois Allstar, consisting of Phebrown (Alaskaq), Dio (JSF Allstar Band), and Pak Wiii (Artificial Life, Caltonettes Serenade, and Healthy Body Ska). They successfully led the joyful audience before the dirty reggae unit, D’jenks, closed the festivities in their signature manner of setting the dance floor ablaze with exuberance.

Beyond serving as a reunion, this gathering also served as a fundraising platform for Palestine’s solidarity and Iqbal Borneo, a close relative of the D’jenks, who is currently undergoing a health recovery treatment.
