On December 20, 2023, Jakarta hosted an exhilarating music event for Jamaican music enthusiasts. The collective Klab Reggae 73 organized their annual celebration, “Reggae X’Mas,” which was fantastically joyful! Like they always do, this event’s lineup was full of intriguing surprises.

Bar Barra, in the South Jakarta area, bore witness to the enthusiasm of devoted Jamaican sound fans, even since 7:00 PM. The music selection by Sir Allen, Okeh Boss, Bigger MD, and Pemuda Salah Jalan (Bandung) opened the event, heating up the dance floor with their vinyl collections. The energy on the dance floor reached its peak with dazzling performances from Jungle Dub Warrior, Doncostell x Rinaldymad (Bandung), and Dreadsmad (Bali) with their impressive track selections. King Daddy and Yala-Yala also contributed the energy through their distinctive MC styles.

At 11:00 PM, the dance floor became even more crowded and of course undoubtedly with growing excitement. White Shoes and the Couples Company (Reggae DJ Set) infused another power by playing an unexpected reggae set, igniting the dance floor beautifully. The creditable reggae unit, Kodim Inna Riddim also created a lively atmosphere that intensified the experience for Jamaican music enthusiasts.

Jakarta’s esteemed dub act, Radit Echoman, joined forces with renowned reggae soloist Conrad Good Vibration. This collaboration brought the high-energy compositions to the stage. The special event concluded seamlessly with the thumping beats and the power of jungle/drum n bass from one of the Javabass Soundsystem’s DJ, Mantasticmate. “Reggae X’Mas” also got backed up by the live visual performance operated directly by Trastrash.
