Riddim Takeovah: Gilang Fitz

Gilang Fitz is a scenester, record digger, and selector out of Jakarta — someone who’s been deep in the Jamaican sound since before it was easy to be. His selections run warm, his roots in sound system culture run deep, and his name has shown up on dance floors from Jakarta to Bangkok to Tokyo.

He also holds down a seat in one of the capital’s most authoritative Jamaican sound collectives — Fever Sound, alongside Iqbal Djoha and Philipponk. The crew currently runs a weekly called “Good Thing Going” every Monday night at RRO Bar — a sidestream and genuine melting pot for music aficionados tucked into the Grand Wijaya stretch of Jakarta.
