BAR ABIB BAND plays roots reggae with a consistent and measured approach within Indonesia’s contemporary reggae landscape. Growing out of Papua Pegunungan, their music draws from stories, language, and lived experiences rooted in everyday life.
Formed as a nine-piece outfit, the band features Otniel Bukega (vocals), Andy Bidana (bass), Apomkaser Mario Kasipmabin (keyboards), Yoppi Uropmabin (keyboards), Hugo Alwolka (drums), Otis Tigi (guitar), Talarson Kasipmabin (guitar), with Metho Kasipmabin and Maksimus Kasipmabin on backing vocals. Together, they perform roots reggae infused with a distinct sense of local identity.
Since 2024, BAR ABIB BAND have released six singles: Sikomalik and Ngiripoko (2024), followed by Aplim Pup, Ngilini, Okomodide, and Wanang Ngalumkur (2025). These releases form a growing repertoire that documents their work within Indonesia’s Jamaican Sound sphere.
