Ska enthusiasts in Jakarta and neighboring areas commemorated a significant occasion on Saturday, March 2, 2024, by attending the “Off The Records Vol. 2 – Parade Ska” event. Hosted by Off The Records, the event unfolded at Live House, M Bloc, in South Jakarta, featuring powerful headliners from various prominent ska bands.
Despite the overcast skies and light rain since the afternoon, the audience’s enthusiasm has remained high. The Skaraoke kickstarted the event with their setlist at 4 PM, followed by performances from Hardyboiz Ska Division, Dunkinman, and Nimby consecutively.
The stage was then taken over by The Speakers, a veteran ska unit, captivating the crowd. The energy on the dance floor intensified as Sentimental Moods, the brass gangs pioneer from Jakarta took the stage. Adding a special touch to the evening, this group of Jakartan scenesters who love Duke Ellington, introduced a guest singer and delivered a magnificent setlist. The vibrant atmosphere of the parade continued with the appearance of D’Jenks, a dirty reggae unit who always ensured a big dance experience. Their captivating performance kept the audience engaged until the very end of their own encore.
The punk ska atmosphere took over the party through the solid appearance of Rubber Ice and one of other legendary ska bands, Washtafel with their repertoire. And then, the music unit from the city of Surabaya, Lantai 2 Berdansa, performed energetically through their stunning stunts as well as the strong vocal signature by the front woman. Then, with an unparalleled appeal, Escoret brings a feast by inviting the child guest singer, closing off “Off The Records Vol. 2 – Parade Ska” smoothly.
