We don’t really need “Long Journey” (Perjalanan Panjang) to let ourselves dance. Just turn this latest EP from Holygrass and listen to it track by track.
“Song For Afternoon” is a forward track from Lampung’s Ska outfit as a calling to get skankin’. This instrumental track leads by a harmonious brass section which makes a-no-sense-to-stand-still situation.
Consecutively in the second song until the end, we will enjoy The Slackers-ish style combined with the “cigar butt” vocals in the manner of the legendary outfit of the country, Noin Bullet. A capable concoction served by Holygrass’ troops. A glass of “wheat juice” will be suitable for quenching the thirst in dancing to their songs.
“Pung Kelapo Kupung” is the Holygrass interpretation of a Lampung’s everlasting folk song which was used as the closing number on the EP “Long Trip”. They show that folk songs are one way to do, so that future generations will not forget the richness of their folk songs. Respect!
