For Two and a Half Decades, Javabass Soundsystem Has Been the Beating Heart of Indonesia’s Drum & Bass Culture. Javabass Soundsystem has never been just a music collective—they’ve been the cardiologists of Indonesia’s Drum & Bass scene. In celebrating a wild and joyful 25-year journey, they’re reviving HOMEGROWN—a compilation that’s more than an album; it’s a sonic blueprint of Indonesia’s Drum & Bass jungle, where each track delivers uncompromising bass and impact.

Homegrown
Alongside their legendary monthly signature party Phunktion, HOMEGROWN stands as another bold statement from Javabass Soundsystem—an ambitious compilation that captures the sound, spirit, and vibrant spectrum of the Indonesian Drum & Bass scene. Behind the 25-track line-up are 25 producers from various cities, gathered as part of the celebration of Javabass’s 25-year legacy.
HOMEGROWN is a loud and clear declaration, conceived by Javabass for the usual suspects. Even Jerome—the godfather of Indonesia’s Drum & Bass realm—joins forces with longtime allies, dancefloor crashers, rising stars, and bedroom producers who quietly send shockwaves from tiny rooms to the digital rave universe. Also featured are winners of the Homegrown competition—a living proof that regeneration is not only real, but thriving wildly.
Available in both digital and double CD formats, the release reflects Javabass’s commitment to preserving the essence behind Homegrown. Whether you’re a purist who still values the physical format or someone who celebrates bass via digital streaming setups, Homegrown stands as a collective manifesto to rave in unity—on the same frequency.
Javabass didn’t stop at sound. They teamed up with Jakarta-based visual artist Popomangun, known for his fusion of ethnic patterns, Memphis vibes, and fearless color palettes. His art direction isn’t just surface-level decoration—Popomangun immersed himself in each track, absorbing its mood and energy before translating it into a visual language. The result is a harmonious dialogue where his artwork doesn’t just be there alongside the music—it fuses with it, speaks in the same frequency, and visually embodies the collective spirit of Homegrown.

Collaboration with United Hart
To broaden the spectrum, Javabass Soundsystem also joined forces with United Hart (UH!)—a streetwear label based in Bandung and a fellow traveler in the noisy realms of urban subculture. This collaboration amplifies Javabass’s 25-year celebration with an infusion of streetwear aesthetics as an alternative art form from United Hart (UH!).
Homegrown Launch: A Night to Rattle the Bass Bins
May 24th, 2025 – Dragon House, Bintaro — Javabass Soundsystem marked their quarter-century milestone not with nostalgia, but with a sonic blast. The launch of HOMEGROWN was a full-spectrum explosion—live sets by the album’s contributors, DJ sets from the core Javabass crew–the dance floors wizards, and retina-scorching interactive visuals courtesy of a dynamic collision between OSGD, Adiblak, and Popomangun’s signature artwork.
With the release of the HOMEGROWN double CD and exclusive merchandise line, Javabass rewrote their legacy with high frequency and another chapter in the movement they pioneered. Blessed earthstrong, Javabass!
