News: D’Jenks Meets Danger Dreads “23 Years: From Ghetto To Glory”

Jakarta’s dirty reggae outfit D’Jenks adds another chapter to their discography—this time through a stylish physical release. The band has put out a double 7” vinyl titled “23 Years: From Ghetto to Glory,” a collaborative project with Danger Dope A.K.A DJ Rencong and Dreadsmad, released on March 2, 2026 via UNDEAD ZONE RECORDS and SOUNDCLASH REKORDS.

The release also marks 23 years of D’Jenks, one of the capital’s most charismatic music outfits, originally formed in the early 2000s. Their roots trace back to the Under Moestopo Ground and Universitas Sahid community scene, where they developed a musical formula that blends reggae grooves with the direct, unfiltered attitude of punk rock. The current lineup features Mr. Rumput (vocals), Rama Adhitya (guitar), Fernanda Rifansyah (keyboards), Rezky Zulkarnain (drums), and Gatot Hendarto (bass).

The material on “23 Years: From Ghetto to Glory” is a curated selection from the band’s catalog. “Everybody Happy Now” and “Sunshine in the Dark” are taken from the expanded edition of their album Blaze of Fire, previously released by Jump Up Records in Chicago. The release also includes “Baksdul Dub” and “Mr. Brown (Dub)” from their self-titled album issued by Paviliun Records.

Production experimentation plays a key role throughout the release. Danger Dope reworks “Baksdul Dub” through an audio-collage approach that blends hip hop, soul, funk, jazz, and drum & bass. Meanwhile, Dreadsmad transforms “Mr. Brown” into a jungle mashup, pairing rapid breakbeats with a deep dub atmosphere.

Each vinyl copy is produced using a real-time lathe-cut process, crafted individually one by one. The result is a raw, textured sonic character—reinforcing the spirit of independent collectability that has long been part of D’Jenks’ identity.
