It must be admitted, the only sound system culture movement that is growing rapidly in the Southeast Asia region is Thailand’s scene. It is proven by the productivity of the scenester from this country in their work, the party they held and guerrilla moves who directly introduced the music culture from Jamaican to elementary schools, a true education!
One of the units from Bangkok – Thailand is Jonathan & Calvin. Consisting of Bim Joe, Judean Kong and G-Bong, a triumvirate who presents the sound of the electronic dub steppa as the main foundation of their music. In 2020, Jonathan & Calvin’s line-up was strengthened by the presence of Sister Maprang as the front woman.
Several tracks have been recorded and released. Throughout the beginning to the middle of 2020, they have provided their experimental tunes in jungle/drum and bass. Their most recent work is “Survivor”, a track that was launched in November 2020. This powerful single is such a presentation of the identity of Jonathan & Calvin.
Apart from being active in producing their work, they have just finished a stack of Jamaican-style giant speakers, which they call Gonja HiFi. All the movements and releases that they will present are very much worth the wait, please follow them via their social media channels here:
