Highmoon

Highmoon is a ska unit from the city of Jakarta. They were formed from the Cipinang – East Jakarta scene in 2010. Highmoon combines many ska influences from The Skatalites & Doreen Shaffer era, then 2Tone elements, they are also inspired by the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. Interestingly, their repertoire contains infusions from the adaptation of the above variables with Indonesian touches. As well as light lyrics and earthy melodies to be their style.

Had lost one of their initial personnel, Wega. Highmoon has survived until now. In 2013, they released the posthumous single “Pergi Tak Kembali” for Wega. Through various line-up changes, they have now become 9 pieces ska units. Aby (vocals), Ega (bass), Bahar (keyboard), Abim (trombone), Monang (guitar), Tomi (tenor sax), Iqbal (drums), Odi (trumpet) and Aren (Violin).

Jalan Jaksa – Jakarta, is a silent witness to the beginning of their career journey. Starting from there, various “underground” dance parties to gigs across genres they garnered and received good enthusiasm from the audience until now. In 2020, they performed at an online international collective show, which was produced by the “Asian Ska Community“. At this gig, they again received positive responses from many international Jamaican Music Aficionados.

Highmoon (sometimes known as Highmoon Ska) on several DSPs, has released two full-length albums. ‘Awal Pencerahan’‘ (2015) and ‘Kehidupan & Batas Waktu‘ (2019). These two albums are available on various DSPs.
