One of our recommendations in this edition is one of the passionate dub acts from Australia. With a sound design formula, this act brings a heavyweight bass into the sound system culture. Something that has put him and other dub acts at the forefront of dub and electronics in his country.
Drew Id, a Brisbane based dub producer is inspired by the roots music and UK’s dub. Live dub with support for synthesiser and effects console is his signature in music production. Then he also infused the original melodic groove in it. Something that later brought him into the Digital Roots journey.

“Dub Dreaming” is Drew Id’s debut  which was released at the end of 2019. In 2020, he released the EP “Dread Code” which contains 5 songs through Dubmission records, a charismatic label from London-England. The success of “Dread Code” has led Drew Id to release another powerful set, this time with a follow-up “Dread Code – Dubplates”. Who distributed freely by a very dedicated music imprint from France, Culture Dub.

We highly recommend this Australian dub act, one who stylishly brings the dub texture of his own into a whole new space, either through his releases, or the various gigs he’s been highlighted. Among them, “Earth Frequency”, “Island Vibe”, “Kuranda Roots”, “Rainbow Serpent”, “Meanjin Reggae Festival” and various underground heavyweight bass parties.
