GIANGGAW x PATROLICE SINGLE “BATU KARAS”

Gianggaw teams up with Patrolice to release the single “Batukaras”, inspired by a coastal village in southern West Java renowned as a surfers’ paradise. The song serves as a love letter to the nature, waves, and laid-back lifestyle of Batukaras, wrapped in warm melodies and lyrics tinged with nostalgia.

Originally written by Gianggaw in 2008, “Batukaras” now comes to life with a new arrangement alongside Patrolice, a Bandung-based band known for their Jamaican Sound and Psychedelic Dub style. Released under Fcktrolice Records with Ruang Katalis as executive producer, this collaboration blends Gianggaw’s musical sincerity with Patrolice’s DIY spirit, while staying rooted in local identity.

ROOTS ARCHITECT LP “FROM DUB 'TIL' NOW”

More than 50 legendary Jamaican musicians—spanning from the early days of 1960s reggae to the present—unite under the Roots Architects project. Returning to Kingston studios, they created a purely instrumental album with no vocals. Following the success of “From Then ’Til Now” (2024), Fruits Records now releases its dub counterpart, “From Dub ’Til Now”, crafted by Roberto Sánchez and infused with the experimental spirit of the golden era of King Tubby, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and Scientist.

Initiated by Swiss producer Mathias Liengme, the project brings together reggae veterans aged 60–85, including Robbie Lyn, Fil Callender, and Dalton Browne. Roots Architects stands as a tribute to the unsung heroes of reggae—a gathering of living legends rekindling the magic of Kingston’s sound.

SMILE OF JAMAICA SINGLE “POSITIVE WAY”

Smile Of Jamaica, a reggae unit from Depok, re-released their single “Positive Way” on June 25, 2025. Originally written in 2013, the track now returns with a refreshed arrangement featuring new guitar layers from Ovan and additional keys from Kamil, while staying true to its signature raggamuffin rhythm. Independently recorded at Pustaka Suara, “Positive Way” tells the story of striving for dreams, now delivered with a more colorful and spirited vibe.

The re-release follows a setback during the band’s hiatus, when “Positive Way” was among four of their tracks that were pirated. After securing proper licensing and removing the illegal versions, Smile Of Jamaica has officially brought the single back across digital platforms.

MALAIMAN DOWNTOWN SINGLE “เบาไฟ”

MALAIMAN DOWNTOWN, a reggae group from Thailand, has released their latest single “เบาไฟ (Calm yuhself)”, blending reggae grooves, nyabinghi rhythms, and meticulously crafted instrumental harmonies. Expressive vocals by Kemil Rodphol, deep bass from Pichet Kitichotangsakul, dynamic drumming by Chayanat Kooduang, along with layers of guitar, keyboard, and saxophone, create a soundscape that is expansive yet intimate.

Collectively produced by MALAIMAN DOWNTOWN and recorded at Jeevan Studio and Sound Comedy, this work represents a convergence of musical discipline and spiritual energy. “Calm yuhself” is more than a song—it is a brief meditation on the balance between serenity and rhythmic intensity.
