One of the most famous Jamaican sound bands in Indonesia, ‘Souljah’ released a new album at the end of February. The 6th album, which contains 12 tracks, is titled ‘Sounds of Souljah’.

This title gives an idea of the combination of Souljah’s distinctive musical colors with a critical message that is displayed in a relaxed and light yet contemplative manner. The idea for the theme was obtained by researching Google trends to identify popular issues in society. Led by Danar Pramesti and David Pasaribu, the data was then adapted into messages in the lyrics to be woven together with easy listening music.

With Souljah’s fresh musical approach, this album becomes a medium to voice the anxiety of the current social situation. These voices are expected to disrupt the depravity and degradation in society.

Furthermore, Sounds of Souljah is also the name of their own record label. This shows the consistency and integrity of Souljah in their work that emphasizes self-sufficiency. The entire production and distribution process is done independently through the record label.

The single track that spearheads the album is ‘Hidup Bersamamu Lagi.’ This song is the result of the most votes from BraddaSouljah (fans) and has been made into an official music video by videographer Abdul Jafar. 

According to Souljah, Sounds of Souljah is a ripple of waves from the center of the events happening in the world. May its waves reach the hearts of many and become eternal.
