With great pleasure Kultur features a talented and powerful talent from the easternmost corner of Indonesia, the city of Deer, Merauke, South Papua. He is Amandus Aron or better known by his stage name ‘One Scoot.’ This name shows the character of a conqueror, where according to him ‘One Scoot’ means to knock someone down just with one blow. At least the name is proven by songs that One Scoot has produced with his group Melanesian Boi, such as Labaca, Karamap and Tumis-tumis Kangkung which immediately draws the attention of people not only in Papua but also in Indonesia.
In the midst of his busy schedule preparing for his Jakarta tour, One Scoot told Kultur.media that his love for reggae and rap music started in 2014 when he was still in junior high school. Together with his close friends he began creating his own work. His passion for music is also fully supported by his family, especially his mother who said that music is a means to channel blessings.
Before joining Melanesian Boi, One Scoot had honed his talent with several music groups in Merauke such as Rusa Boyz, Gubuk Derita, and Label Hitam. Bob Marley is an important figure who not only inspires him in music but also in his daily life.
Reggae now comes with various versions and tastes, and One Scoot describes his version as Reggae Jump which in Papua is known as Lagu acara. This type of reggae infuses several elements in it such as Malay, Indian Punjabi, Moombahton, and also Arabic as explained by One Scoot.
