This North Sumateran Outfit started as a project by JereFundamental (vocalist), Alexander Limbong (keyboard), and Fitrah Odom (bass) in early 2016, Liberty Gong managed to mix music with strength that comes from a commitment to a musical outfit. Then Yudi Andriano as co-vocalist, Inal Lubis (guitar) and Jimmy (Drums) and Nova as LiGong Army joined forces to complete this line-up.

With a different musical background, Reggae Dub has become the highlight for Liberty Gong. Inspirations from Marley Brothers to Led Zeppelin, Jennifer Holliday to Sublime, Protoje to Ramones, and Charles Bradley to The Transplants made each member bring a different touch. Reggae, hip hop, death metal, rocksteady, punk and jazz will be attached to Liberty Gong’s ongoing work in the recording process.

Waalaikumshalom was a debut album from Liberty Gong which took quite a long time, finally released on 20/02/2020. Which contains 11 varied songs inspired by black music. Waalaikumshalom is Liberty Gong’s effort which is expected to be able to convey a more spiritual message with the metaphorical lyrical style they use.

On the other hand, waalaikumshalom is a daily reflection of each personnel describing hopes, routines, falldowns and even awakening. A situation that always occurs on a light spiritual journey but can happen anywhere. With the presence or absence of what we have.
