On March 3rd, three artists from different countries, Quino Big Mountain (USA), Yanto Marapu (Indonesia) and Tiano Bless (Chile) released a transnationalist collaboration through a single titled ‘Raining on the Town’.
The power of roots reggae vibrations that are dominant through drum beats and bass grooves combined with ragga grooves are so tempting for the body to dance. The traditional chanting background gave a touch of ethnicity and ‘indigenitude’ as well as spirituality to emphasize and justify the vision of these three artists. Also in line with reggae aesthetics, the song’s lyrical message calls for togetherness among fellow humans and the universe that can suggest sensitivity in maintaining balance in order to dispel any obstacles in life. The easy and catchy repetitive chorus of ‘raining on the town’ is expected to be a mantra that hypnotizes listeners to join in and live the message of this song.
In addition to being available to listen to on almost all digital platforms, as of April 1, this single has provided an interesting visual version. Shot in Bali, the video clip features a panoramic view of the natural beauty and hospitality of the people. A powerful and captivating combination.
