The Slackers – “They Are Losing”

The current twist and turn of political contestation during the presidential election in the United States, made ska outfit from New York, The Slackers, sing out about the recent dynamics of democracy in their country through their latest single “They Are Losing”.

The Slackers brings rocksteady, soul and rock n roll in this slow tempo single. The harmony presented flawlessly by the power quintet on this track. The saxophone gracefully side by side with the organ, invites the listener to contemplate through the lyrics spoken calmly by Vic Ruggiero, which remains a highlight of The Slackers.

‘They Are Losing’ tells the story of the latest global conditions and as their call-out to keep the hope up in the dissonance of socio-politics in the United States. Go out and Vote! (as they wrote the excerpt from their bandcamp page).

The cheerful groove is not something we could find in “They Are Losing”, not like the other The Slackers songs. However, they conveyed the good messages very well.
