Rules Eighteen is a Jamaican music unit hailing from Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia, and has been active since 2017. After a hiatus from 2019 to 2022 and undergoing a lineup rotation, they finally released a track titled “The Shag Song” on June 3, 2024.

The rocksteady ambiance is felt quite tight from the very start of the song. This opening pairs well with a toasting style. The enchanting brass section successfully brings a dance party atmosphere. This medium-tempo composition has a strong enough vibe to get you skanking along.

The lighthearted lyrics add another layer of energy to the arrangement. Themes of joy on the dance floor are the main essence of “The Shag Song.”
