The city of Cirebon, apart from producing great artists like Affandi, has also contributed many interesting figures to Jamaican music scene in Indonesia. Another Project and Baxlaxboy are one of them.
Jamessteady, is another familiar name to fans of ska, reggae and rocksteady music from Cirebon. Raw Disco with the hunky-punky beat of the drums and the solidity of interaction from each instrument in their composition is so straightforward, such as a full of joy guarantee. As well as the lyrics that are always provocative, whether it’s calling you to dance or calling you to wake up and be aware about the injustices around us. They call this formula they made as ‘Rawk and Beat’.
Music fans ordained them as “The king of pensi”, a name that attached to this power outfit, which was formed in 2010. They have released their works through the compilation ‘Soundclash Vol. 1’ (a three way split) with D’Jenks (Jakarta) and The Skabanton (Surabaya) in 2017. This album was also successfully sold out at the celebration of Cassette Store Day in Chicago, United States. An output from the collective work of brilliant music imprint Soundclash Records and Dead Rat Records in spreading Indonesian talents to the world.
Through the “Riot City Rockers” EP which was released last November, Jamessteady has returned, and is ready to set the dancefloor with their flames through the five songs in this EP. The fresh energy and the wiser arrangements and the good messages in it are a sign that the power of ‘Rawk and Beat’ from Cirebon is back!
