Tropico Rasta

Papua continues to spread its charm by producing their notable Jamaican music unit . One of them is Tropico Rasta, a blues reggae outfit from the city of Jayapura which was formed in 2004.

This early line up consist of Richard Gedi (Vocal), Bill Tropico (Lead Guitar), Jhonny Lekahena (Rhythm Guitar), Avillo Renwarin (Bass), Hein Titaley (Keyboard), Gunter Rumbairusi (Keyboard), Arjuna Kende (Drummer) and Erick Mandosir (Percussion).

With this line up, Tropico Rasta has recorded 3 songs entitled “Kursi Panjang dok II“, “Musik Pantai” and “Sergap“. All three numbers were worked out in Abepura, at the residence of one of their comrades, Buce. The man who lent his hands to support Tropico Rasta producing their own work.

After Richard Gedi died, Tropico Rasta decided to take a break. The remaining personnel anchored into Jayapura’s local bands, such as Ab Radio, De Sagoo, and others.

Upon his return from the “break”, Bill was asked to become the main vocalist of Tropico Rasta. In Medio 2017, Bill worked on fresh works with Tropico Rasta in Yogyakarta. And at the end of the same year, Tropico Rasta managed to finish the album “Mace Kribo” which was launched in 2018.

Until now, they are still productive in creating their own unique works to be shared with Jamaican music lovers in Indonesia. An action that we should look forward to. Follow Tropico Rasta through their official social media channels here:
