This rocksteady music unit from the city of Padang started in 2009. At that time their line-up was still 6 members. It was only in 2012 that they strengthened the line up with the addition of 4 new personnels.

Quoting one of the dialogues from the movie “Quadrophenia”, they call themselves Ready Steady. Rocksteady elements that infused upon Jamaican music nexus are their choice of work. They’re inspired by their musical heroes, such as The Skatalites, Toots and The Maytals, Tim Armstrong, The Specials and also big names from the country such as Shaggy Dog, Artificial Life, Healthy Body, Denny Frust, Monkey Boots and The Authentics.

They released their first work of a single, “It’s Time Do Rocksteady” in 2014. A single that was later also included in their debut physical album; “Transformation” in 2018. The album which contains 8 colorful rocksteady tracks is also available on several digital music platforms.

Eka (vocals), Capaik & Fikri (guitar), Apex (bass), Beben (drums), Awe (keyboards), Ridho (percussion), Heri (trumpet), Raga (trombone) and Danil (saxophone) from Ready Steady, once represented themselves as one of the Sumateran outfit headliners in “Indonesia Skarnaval” (2021) which was initiated by the charismatic ska collective of the country; Indonesian Ska Connection.
