The diverse sounds of Jamaican music releases in Indonesia are continuing to evolve. Some touches by the local acts to explore their musical compositions have garnered considerable attention. One example of such exploration is the music group Crispy Sunday, originating from Sungailiat, Bangka, Indonesia.
Formed in 2009, this musical unit consists of Randi Felani (vocalist), Angga Susanto (bassist), Jefry Wijaya (guitarist), Rizdo Alfinsar (guitarist), and Sandy Ikhsan (drummer). They began their musical journey while being part of the motorbike, skateboard, BMX, and surf communities in their city. This quintet from Bangka draws inspiration from the musical styles of Slightly Stoopid, Alton Ellis, Tribal Seeds, Sister Nancy, Stand High Patrol, and Matisyahu.
As of February 2024, Crispy Sunday has released three singles, “Wipe Out Dub,” “Inna The Party,” and most recently, “I Know That You Love Me.” Currently, they are preparing something in the studio. It seems their work is worth waiting for us to enjoy.
