Dub and reggae compositions, through their various styles, are thriving in Indonesia. Across the nation, talented acts are emerging, adding vibrant colors to the scene. One such group making waves in this new era is High No Man, a sound system culture trio formed in the city of Tuban, East Java.
The unit consists of Adma (toaster), Nods (effects and visuals), and Sheta (selector and visual artist), come up hitting the dancefloor in a DJ set format. The name High No Man is derived from the legendary wayang character Hanoman, they modernized it to reflect the fusion of traditional culture and contemporary musical exploration. Their signature style blends instrumental dub/reggae with modern sound characteristics, serving as the core of their creative process.
High No Man has released at least three tracks: “Chasing The Sun,” “More High,” and “Beat Down Babylon.” The latter two were compiled into a maxi single, officially released in November 2024.
